ADKINS RECEIVES PRESIDENT’S AWARD FROM GUIDANCE CENTER

 

Detroit, MI- Burl Adkins, CEO of Global Technology Associates (GTA), received the prestigious President’s Award at the annual “Night of the Stars” event hosted by the Guidance Center in Southgate. Award ceremonies were held aboard the Detroit Princess on April 29, 2006.

The Guidance Center, established in 1958, is a behavioral health and human services agency that offers more than 40 different programs and serves nearly 11,000 children, adults and families each year throughout Southeast Michigan.

Adkins was recognized for his philanthropic efforts and contributions to the Guidance Center. He has hosted the center’s annual Holiday Card Sale, which raises money for children through the Opportunity Center mentoring program. Within this program, he has held the position of Fundraising Chairperson. Adkins has also been a member of the “Night of the Stars” host committee.

CEO Burl Adkins said, “I have enjoyed the opportunity to work with these at- risk children and to see the difference that we can make in their lives.”

Commenting on Adkins selection for the President’s award, Michael Lott, CEO of the Guidance Center remarked, “This award is bestowed upon an individual in recognition for significant contributions to behavioral health and specifically to the mission of the Guidance Center.”

Adkins founded GTA, a contract engineering and design firm, in 1988. GTA places technical personnel in contract and direct positions within the automotive sector.  Crain’s Detroit Business has consistently ranked GTA among the top 20 largest staffing firms, in the Metropolitan Detroit Area.

Crain’s Detroit Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals awarded Adkins the Distinguished Volunteer Award in 2004 for his ongoing involvement and philanthropic work for the Guidance Center.
